A woman told police  she was approached by a man in the frozen food aisle of the ShopRite store on Black Rock Turnpike and asked a few questions. After she finished talking to the man, she noticed her wallet was missing from her purse. Store surveillance video showed another woman take the wallet from her cart, look inside it and place it in her own purse during the victim’s conversation.

Police believe the man and the woman were working together. The two walked around the store with separate carts, but after the theft both abandoned their carts and fled the store, police said. The man involved was described as a black male, about 5-foot 8-inches tall, in his 30s or 40s with glasses and a beard or mustache. The woman also was black, approximately 5-foot 7-inches tall, heavyset with long curly hair.

Anyone who might be able to identify the two suspects should contact the detective bureau at 203-254-4840 or mgagner@town.fairfield.ct.us, and reference case file No. 12-41187. All tips will be kept confidential.
