On May 26, two women dropping off their children at the daycare reported they returned to find items missing from their cars.

One woman said her wallet, containing gift cards, seven credit cards, her driver’s license and $20, was missing from her unlocked car. A second woman said her window was smashed and someone made off with a $400 Michael Kors purse containing a $150 Coach wallet, credit cards, a checkbook and $140 in cash, police said.

Police reviewed surveillance tape and saw a man and woman who drove two cars into the lot appear to take things from the cars.

Later in the day, New Windsor police contacted the Fairfield department to say they had found Christopher Lowe, 29, address unavailable, with items belonging to 16 other people, including some stolen from the two women in Fairfield.

Lowe is in custody on a bank fraud charge, police said.
