Fairfield Police Warn Of 'Distraction Burglaries' By Fake Water Workers

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Police Department wants residents to be aware of individuals posing as water company employees in an attempt to steal from homes.

Fairfield has experienced incidents in which male suspects identifying themselves as water company employees have knocked on doors of homes and asked owners for entry to check their faucets and water pressure, police said.

Once inside the home, the suspect distracts the homeowner, while another suspect enters in search of valuables.

The Fairfield Police Department is encouraging residents to ask any individuals requesting to enter their home for this purpose for identification, to call Aquarian to confirm their presence and notify the Fairfield Police Department at 203-254-4800.
