Fairfield Police: Woman Attempts To Steal $700 In Goods From Stop & Shop

FAIRFIELD, Conn — A 26-year-old woman faces a larceny charge after she left the Villa Avenue Stop & Shop in Fairfield Saturday without paying for nearly $700 worth of goods packed into reusable shopping bags, police said.

Shortly before 7 p.m., the store’s loss prevention officer saw Jennifer Kellner, of Barnum Avenue, Bridgeport, putting items in the bags she took from a stand in the store, police said.

After she left the store with the bags in a shopping cart and other goods concealed in her purse, she as stopped and charged with fifth-degree larceny, police said.

She was released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 28 and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for evaluation, police said.
