Officers from the Fairfield Police Department arrested Evelyn V. Verner, 1489 Pembroke Street, on an active warrant Friday.

Verner was charged after a 2014 investigation of counterfeit payroll checks written from the accounts of the Bear & Grill Restaurant and Bar.

Three checks were made out to individuals who did not work at the bar, police said. The checks were in the amounts of $474, $595 and $895, police said.

Verner was charged with sixth-degree larceny and second-degree forgery after the investigation, police said.

She was identified by the ID card she handed a bank employee when she tried to cash at least one of the counterfeit checks, police said.
