Fairfield Police: Woman Leaves Purse, Loses Wallet In ShopRite Parking Lot

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A woman who left her purse in a shopping cart at ShopRite on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield recovered her purse from a nearby store, but her wallet, which she had put inside the purse, was gone, police said.

Police said a woman was able to recover her lost purse Friday, but not her wallet, which was inside the purse.

The wallet contained $80 in cash, a health insurance card and several credit cards, police said.

The woman realized she had forgotten her purse and returned to the parking lot, police said. She walked into Party City, which is near ShopRite, and learned that someone had turned in the purse without the wallet, police said.

The wallet was reported missing to police Friday evening, police said.
