FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Officers responding to a report of a fight among several teens at Knapps Green park in Fairfield on Monday arrested one teen on a weapons charge, police said.

Officers reported seeing several teenagers getting into a car at the scene and asked about the fight, police said.

The car's driver, Pharoah Eaton, 18 of Fairfield, later admitted to police that there had been a fight at the park but said it was not a physical fight, police said.

Officers near the car and the teenagers reported a strong odor of burnt marijuana, police said. All three teenagers were asked whether they had marijuana in their possession, police said. Eaton admitted he had smoked earlier in the day, but no marijuana was found in the car after K-9 officer Ruger was called to the scene, police said.

A search of the car uncovered an 8-inch-long double-edged knife in the driver's door pocket, police said. Eaton said it was his and that he planned to sell it at a pawn shop later, police said.

Eaton was charged with possession of weapons in a motor vehicle and was released on a written promise to appear in court April 7.
