Fairfield Woman Accused Of Hiding Roommate From Police

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Two Fairfield women were charged with misdemeanors after one was accused of leaving the scene of an accident and the other of lying about her location, according to police reports.

A driver told police that his car was struck in the rear by another car while stopped at a red light on Kings Highway East on Wednesday afternoon. The other car left the scene, but through its license plate it was traced to a home on Woods End Road, according to police reports. The car was parked nearby, but the driver was not inside, police say.

Officers went to the car owner’s address and were told by her roommate that the driver was not home. But the owner, Dana Chaisson, 36, later came out of the house and turned herself over to police, according to the report.

Chaisson was charged with evading responsibility, a misdemeanor, and issued citations for following too closely and driving without insurance. She was released on a promise to appear in court, and assigned a hearing date of Jan. 8. Her roommate, Lisa Furgess, 45, was charged with interfering with police, a misdemeanor. She is also due in court on Jan. 8.
