FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Fairfield woman turned herself in to town police Saturday after driving her car across three lawns and into a handicapped ramp in May, police said
Eileen Haslof, 63, of Warde Terrace, was driving south on Pinetree Lane around 11:45 p.m. on May 20, when she ran through a stop sign, overshot a left turn and ended up driving over front yards and into the ramp on Candlewood Road, police said.
A homeowner who called police said he asked Haslof if she was alright and she responded, “I’m drunk. I want to get out of the car,” police said.
Haslof was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, where tests revealed she was intoxicated, police said.
She was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane and failure to obey a control signal, police said.
She was released on a promise to appear in court on July 19, police said.
