Fairfield Woman Charged With Buying Narcotics

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Fairfield woman was charged with drug possession after detectives witnessed her buying prescription medication illegally Friday afternoon, police said.

Police began investigating Tracy Carbone, 49, of Pease Avenue in Southport, based on a tip from a concerned citizen, police said. Detectives followed her car from her home to a location in Bridgeport, where she bought prescription medication, police said.

On her way back to Fairfield, officers stopped her car and performed a search. Inside they found a pill bottle and organizer with a variety of medications, including the painkiller oxycontin, police said. Other pills still are being tested to identify them, police said.

Carbone was charged with failure to keep prescription drugs in the proper container, illegal sale or distribution of narcotics and possession of narcotics. She is due in court Oct. 9.
