FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Fairfield woman was charged with driving under the influence after a single-car accident while driving her kids to school Monday morning, according to police reports.
The woman was driving on Sturges Road at about 7:30 a.m. Monday when her car swerved off the road, police say. The car sideswiped a tree and continued into a second tree, according to the accident report.
Two children were in the car at the time of the accident, police say. No injuries were reported.
Colleen Fecke, 47, of Queens Grant Road, failed field sobriety tests at the scene, police say. She was taken to Westport for a breathalyzer test, which showed that her blood alcohol content was over the legal limit, according to police reports.
Fecke was charged with risk of injury to a minor, driving under the influence and a failure to drive on the right. She was released after posting $250 bond and is due in court June 4. The case has been referred to the Fairfield Police Youth Bureau and the Department of Children and Families.
