At 11a.m. May 23, Westport Officer Shane Pucci was dispatched on a report of "an elderly woman" who was "operating a white Audi A4 on the Post Road erratically," police said.

A short time later, the same vehicle was involved in a parking lot accident at 991 Post Road E., police said.

Pucci saw observed a woman in the driver's seat of the car who was later identified as Dorothy Moran, 66, of Fairfield, police said.

Moran was slurring her words and could not follow his instructions, police said.

She was asked to get out of the car to perform the standard field sobriety tests, police said. But she appeared so intoxicated that the officer could not safely have her exit the vehicle for the testing, police said.

Due to Moran's "incapacitated state," she was transported to Norwalk Hospital for treatment, police said.

Based on Moran's erratic operation, her intoxicated appearance, and her admission to drinking alcohol while driving her vehicle, Pucci obtained a search warrant for her medical records from Norwalk Hospital, police said.

The result of the search warrant showed Moran’s blood alcohol level was over the legal limit and an arrest warrant was submitted to Norwalk Superior Court for her arrest.

On Sept. 20, Moran went to the Westport Police Department and turned herself in on the active arrest warrant. She was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol. She was released on $500 bond and scheduled to appear at Norwalk court on Oct. 4.
