Police report that they were called to the supermarket Wednesday after Jacquelyn Souza, 21, of Fairfield, was accused of attempting to leave the store with $107 in chewing gum and Neosporin in her purse. Officers stopped both Souza and Naser Basujevic, 26 of Seymore, when they were attempting to leave the store.
During the investigation K-9 officer Ruger alerted on the car used by Souza and found syringes and other drug paraphernalia in the car.
It was later found that Souza had seven second-degree failure to appear and one first-degree failure to appear warrants out of Fairfield, Bridgeport and Stratford.
Basujevic was charged with conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree and released with a written promise to appear in court, no court date was stated by police.
In addition to the warrants, Souza was charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree. She was held by police on $210,000 bond for the failure to appear charges and $500 for the larceny charge.
She was held by police and brought to court on May 8. No information regarding her court appearance was known.
Souza was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and given a written promise to appear in court on May 14.
