FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A round of horseplay that escalated to a fistfight between a father and son early Saturday morning left the father heading to the hospital and both men arrested, police said.
Officers were flagged down to the parking lot at 238 Post Road around 3:30 a.m., when a witness saw two men in a car punching each other, police said.
The father and son said they had been drinking at a nearby restaurant and were waiting for a ride, when they began pushing and shoving each other, police said. The father, Juan M. Figueroa, 54, of Wayland Avenue, Waterbury, began kicking the son and broke a chain around his neck and the fight escalated, police said.
Figueroa and his son, Juan M. Figueroa, 33, of Ash Street, Bridgeport, were each charged with third-degree assault, police said. They were scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 29.
Figueroa complained of difficulty breathing and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, police said.
