The Weston Volunteer Fire Department said it responded to the blaze at 8 p.m. Friday.

Upon arrival, heavy fire and flames were visible from the rear of the home, the department said in a Facebook post. Flames were shooting through the roof and as high as the treetops.

Arriving units quickly transitioned from a defensive operation to an interior operation, the department said.

No fire personnel or civilians were injured in the fire.

The Weston Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.

There were no occupants in the home at the time of the fire, according to the Weston Forum. A neighbor said the house has been vacant for some time, the Forum said.

About 30 firefighters responded to the call, the Forum said.

Tankers from Wilton and Georgetown provided mutual aid during the fire.

The Westport Fire Department provided a Rapid Intervention Team and later covered a motor vehicle accident with injuries in town.

The Weston Fire Department's Engine 4, Engine 7, Engine 2 and Engine 1 responded to the blaze, along with 552, 500, Car 2 and Car 3.
