High-Value Thefts Reported at Fairfield Stores

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A shoplifter swiped approximately $790 worth of items from a Post Road clothing store Monday afternoon. The incident marked the seventh high-value theft in the last two months from the same building, police say.

The most recent theft occurred at about 11:30 a.m. Monday. An employee at Ann Taylor Loft, 1499 Post Road, told police a white or Hispanic woman entered the store, took two piles of clothes from a display table and ran out. The woman got into a black sedan with New York license plates and drove off heading east on Post Road.

The employees described the suspect as having dirty blond hair in a ponytail, wearing a gray or silver bulky shirt and carrying a large gray tote bag. The driver of the car was only described as an Hispanic man.

Six other thefts had occurred at 1499 Post Road since April 5, police say. The reported cases include three at Victoria’s Secret and one each at Apricot Lane and Banana Republic. Ann Taylor Loft also had a large-scale theft in that time frame, in which suspects took approximately $3,400 in merchandise. The total value of the items taken in the seven incidents is estimated at $8,580.

Cars with New York license plates were seen at many of the incidents. Police believe the thefts might be related. Anyone with information should contact Fairfield police at 203-254-4800.
