K-9 Officer Tracks Down Suspect After Police Car Pursuit Ends In Southport

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A police pursuit on I-95 ended in Fairfield on Sunday with a K-9 officer tracking down the fleeing suspect, witnesses said.

The car, with police in pursuit, got off I-95 at Exit 21 around 5 p.m. Sunday, leading officers into Southport, witnesses said. 

The car raced down Mill Hill Terrace, then turned onto Osborne Lane, where the suspect jumped out of his car and ran, a witness said. 

The suspect fled onto Mill Hill Terrace, where he tried to break into a house, a witness said. But a police dog caught him, witnesses said.

The car was towed from the scene.

No additional information was available Sunday on the incident.
