Lock Up: Fairfield Police Say Unlocked Cars Too Enticing To Ne'er-Do-Wells

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Police are again urging residents to lock their car doors after a string of unlocked vehicles were rummaged through Friday into Saturday.

A Pequot Court resident reported his registration and insurance card were taken from his unlocked car parked in front of his home sometime after 10:30 p.m. Friday.

An unlocked car on Fern Street was also entered, though nothing was taken.

A homeowner on Edward Street reported an unlocked car rummaged through between 9:30 p.m. Friday and 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

Someone made off with a wallet, including cash and several credit cards left in an unlocked car parked in a Puritan Road driveway.

A car was rummaged through on Rowland Road sometime after 2 p.m. on Friday.

A Lota Drive resident reported an unregistered, uninsured vehicle parked on her property was stolen sometime between Nov. 2 and Nov. 10, police said.

She said someone else may have had the key to the 1998 Honda Accord, which was locked outside her home.
