Man Accused Of Damaging Bus With Cane In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Bridgeport man was charged with criminal mischief after he was accused of using his cane to damage a public bus door in Fairfield, according to police reports.

The man had attempted to get on a Milford Transit bus Monday evening on Post Road. But he had been banned from the company’s line for past behavior, the driver told police. When the driver closed the door to prevent him from boarding, the man used his cane to crack the glass on the door, according to police reports.

Robert Christensen, 68, of Bridgeport, told police that he did not realize the bus was from Milford because of a new paint color, and agreed to pay the $300 estimated cost to repair the glass, police say.

Christensen was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. He was released on a promise to appear in court, and was assigned a court date of Oct. 5.
