The pharmacist at CVS on Post Road called police Thursday afternoon to report the incident. The man said that Benjamin Shiggs, 61, of Bridgeport, asked to fill a prescription for 180 pills of the painkiller oxycodone, police say.
Shiggs handed over a prescription from a Bridgeport medical clinic and a state inmate’s identification card, according to the police report. The pharmacist told police that he had recognized Shiggs from a similar attempt earlier this year, police say.
Shiggs was charged with second-degree forgery, a felony. He was then turned over to the federal Drug Enforcement Agency for further investigation.
