Officers were called June 5 to the Tunxis Hill Shopping Center after a witness reported that an injured woman had just been forcibly put into a car by a man and driven away, police said.

According to the police report, the victim had been lying on her side outside an ATM in the shopping center when a concerned citizen approached her and saw that she had a bloody nose. While trying to determine whether she was OK, the witness told police that a man in a dark blue older model Toyota came up, grabbed the woman by the arm and forced her into the car before driving off.

During the investigation, police were able to get video from the ATM. Officers determined that the suspect had used the machine, providing them with the name of 24-year-old German Molina of Bridgeport, police said. In the video, a young child can be seen sitting in the car, police said.

It was determined that the victim had picked up Molina earlier that day, gone to the ATM and began to argue about money, police said. Molina then punched the victim in the face in front of their 2-year-old son and told the victim to get out of the car, police said. He returned for her shortly afterward, which is when the witness saw the victim on the ground, police said.

Police located Molina on Wednesday evening at his home in Bridgeport and charged him with risk of injury to a minor, breach of peace and third-degree assault. He was held on $25,000 bond and brought to court Thursday, Aug. 14.
