Man Charged With Break-In At Fairfield Metro

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Bridgeport man was charged with burglary early Friday morning at the Fairfield Metro Center. Dawonn Lawson, 22, was seen attempting to steal a computer from a construction trailer near the train station, police say.

A security guard at Fairfield Metro called police to report a man walking around the station’s lot, looking into parked cars, according to the police report. When officers arrived they saw Lawson on top of a box outside a trailer on the construction site nearby, with a laptop valued at $900 in his hand, police say.

Police also found a knife and seven individually wrapped bags of marijuana in his pockets, according to the report. Lawson admitted that he tried to use the knife to pry into the trailer before breaking a window, police say.

Lawson was charged with third-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny, possession of burglary tools, second-degree criminal mischief, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. His bond was set at $5,000 and he is due in court on July 16.
