When police arrived on the scene they found Kevin Sorhaindo, 67 of Bridgeport, in his car with severe front end damage and a destroyed tire.
When asked about the damage Sorhaindo said he didn't know where it came from and believed it had only been a flat tire. He couldn't answer questions about when or where the accident that caused the damage took place.
Officers reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on him and asked him to perform standard field sobriety tests, which police said he failed.
Sorhaindo was transported to headquarters and processed. He was charged with driving under the influence and was released on a $100 cash bond and a court date of Oct. 29.
He was released in to the custody of a family member.
Police are investigating the accident.
