FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A homeless man was in critical condition after a fall from a bicycle on Post Road on Wednesday evening, police said.
Police do not believe the man was struck by a car but have not ruled out an attack on the victim.
The 54-year-old man was found on the ground in the entrance of People’s United Bank on Post Road near Beach Road. The man was lying on top of his bicycle and was bleeding from a head wound, police said. He was unconscious and unresponsive.
Police and paramedics stabilized the man and took him to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport for treatment. He was still in critical condition.
Investigators checked the scene and found no signs that a car was involved in the man’s injuries, according to police reports. Police plan to check surveillance footage to make sure no foul play was involved.
