Man Hurt In Fall From Southport Train Platform

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Milford man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after he fell from the platform of the Southport train station Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services got a call at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday that a man was lying on the tracks behind Paci restaurant near the station. Police and fire crews arrived to find a man conscious, but bleeding from a cut on his head.

The 50-year-old Milford resident told police he had fallen off the platform and hit his head on a railing on the way down. The man appeared intoxicated, according to police reports.

He was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport for treatment. Train service was briefly stalled during the incident, but resumed when the scene had been cleared.
