Monroe Man Charged With Assault After Woman Overdoses On Heroin

MONROE, Conn. -- A 21-year-old Monroe man was charged with assault in connection with an overdose of a woman who bought Fentanyl-laced heroin from him in July, according to the Connecticut Post.

Nicholas Ludwig had earlier been arrested on drug sale charges following the July 2 overdose of a woman in Monroe, the Connecticut Post reported. While being arraigned in Bridgeport on Tuesday he was also charged with first-degree assault and reckless endangerment, according to the Connecticut Post. It is believed to be the first time in the Bridgeport court that someone has been charged with assault in connection with an overdose, the Connecticut Post said.

On July 2, Monroe Police responded to a Maple Drive home on a report of an overdose, where they found a young woman lying on a bedroom floor, according to the Connecticut Post. They were able to revive her with four doses of Narcan, according to the Connecticut Post.

The woman later told police that she had purchased the Fentanyl-laced heroin from Ludwig and snorted it at his home, the Connecticut Post reported.
