Two men approached the Fairfield resident at 10:40 a.m. while he was walking west on Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport on Oct. 18, police said. They told the victim they knew where he worked and demanded he withdraw all of his money from his bank account, police said.
The suspects then forced the man to walk to the Bank of America branch in Fairfield on Kings Highway Cutoff, police said. The victim, who was on the phone at the time of the confrontation, withdrew $800 from his account via the ATM, police said.
According to police reports, the ATM receipt was marked at 11:35 a.m., showing that the incident occurred over the course of an hour.
On Wed. Nov. 5, Bank of America released rendered photos of a suspect from its ATM surveillance footage to help police in their search, Deputy Chief Christopher Lyddy said. Officers had been working off a victim’s description alone, Lyddy said.
The victim described a suspect as 30 to 35 years old, 5-foot-9, with short, black hair, wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt and speaking in an Ecuadorian accent, police said.
The victim also believed he was being followed by a car as well, police said.
Surveillance photos above show a similar-looking suspect also wearing a black hat and hooded jacket.
