New York Man Charged With Assault In Parking Lot At Westport Drug Store

WESTPORT, Conn. — A New York man was charged with assault and breach of peace after an incident on Tuesday in a parking lot at a Westport pharmacy.

Christian Garciaduge, 37, of Flushing, N.Y., was charged with third-degree assault after police responded to a report of an assault in progress at 880 Post Road East. The person reporting the assault said a man was hitting a woman and left the scene in black Toyota. The person also provided partial vehicle New York registration information.

Officer Shane Pucci spotted the suspect's vehicle traveling Eastbound on Post Road East. The officer stopped the vehicle in front of 1076 Post Road East. The male in the driver seat was identified as Garciaduqe. The victim was in the front passenger seat.

Officers observed that the victim was bleeding from her left wrist. Based on witness statements, officers determined that Garciaduqe and the victim had an argument in the Walgreens parking lot at880 Post Road East.

It was reported that Garciaduqe dragged the victim out of the car by her hair. Garciaduqe then kicked the victim in the stomach and face and would not let her get up from the ground. The victim had visible scrapes, abrasions and bruising on both her knees and right elbow. She sustained a laceration to her bottom lip and an abrasion on her left side of her face.

Garciaduqe was taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters. He was held on $1,500 bond.
