FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A 21-year-old New York man was arrested on an assault charge Sunday, after he allegedly found his ex-girlfriend with another man and hit her in the face, police said.
The man, who had broken up with the woman three weeks ago, walked into her bedroom at her Fairfield Beach Road rental home Friday and found her with someone else, police said. He left the house, but came back and the former couple argued, police said.
The victim said he hit her in the face and she was knocked to the ground, police said. The victim’s roommates took photos of her swollen lip and called her mother, who alerted local security, police said.
The man, who also lives on Fairfield Beach Road, denied striking the woman and said she was irate and had been smacking him, police said.
The man was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
He was released and scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Oct. 31, police said.
