Officers were called to the home shortly after midnight after the woman said her husband, Sukavitt Chaimahavong, 47, of 64th Street, became enraged and choked her in front of a witness, police said.

Chaimahavong left the home but was picked up at 10 a.m. at his business on Black Rock Turnpike, police said. He was charged with violation of a November protective order, disorderly conduct, third-degree assault ad second-degree strangulation, police said.

He was held on $50,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on May 30, police said.

The woman showed police bruises on her neck and hand, but she declined medical assistance, police said.
