FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Officers from Fairfield Animal Control and the state Department of Energy & Environmental Protection were called into action Monday morning when a large buck got his antlers stuck in a soccer goal on a playing field at Fairfield University.
Video of the struggling stag show him flailing around to free himself, pulling the goal net about 30 or 40 feet across the rugby field at 1073 North Benson Road in the process, police said.
Officers managed to cut him free at about 9:45 a.m., and he ran off into the woods, police said.
The fields are used by teams at Fairfield University — which is, coincidentally, the home of the Stags.
