Jonathan Dejesus, 29, surrendered to Bridgeport police Monday, was charged with first-degree manslaughter and held on $250,000 bond, according to the Post.
The other three suspects -- Anthony Martinez, 33, Mari Vargas, 41, and Christopher Fonseca, 28 — are also facing first-degree manslaughter charges. Each had bond set at $250,000 after being arrested earlier this month.
Martinez, Vargas and Fonseca admitted throwing objects at a 1999 Jeep Cherokee on July 16 because they said the occupants had disrespected them, according to the Post.
However, they said they did not throw the brick that killed 41-year-old Edy Morales, the Post said.
Morales was a passenger in the Jeep Cherokee, which was on Jane Street when several people threw rocks, a brick and a metal pipe at the vehicle, police said. Morales was struck in the side of the head by a brick, and later died of his injuries at Bridgeport Hospital, police said.
The four suspects were quickly identified, and arrest warrants were prepared and submitted to the state's attorney’s office for review. On Sept. 30, Bridgeport Police received all four arrest warrants back from the state’s attorney’s office.
“These arrests represent solid police work in the investigation of this horrific crime in our city,” Bridgeport Police Chief Armando “AJ” Perez said when the first three suspects were arrested Oct. 4.
Perez praised the detective bureau and the identification unit for their work on the case.
"I thank all of the detectives from our detective bureau for all of their hard work investigating this case and apprehending the suspects, and members of the Identification Unit and all those who helped to identify those responsible, so that these arrests may bring some comfort to the Morales family that those responsible for his death will be held accountable,” he said.
