Javier Campos, of Vermont Avenue, was involved in a motor vehicle crash when attempting to pull out of the Rio Bravo Tacos and Tequila parking lot on Commerce Drive, police said.

Officers approached a Honda Pilot that was parked in the middle of the street, police said, that had front side damage and noticed Campos’ vehicle also had front side damage.

When speaking to officers, Campos had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol on his breath, police said. Officers then performed multiple field sobriety tests, which Campos failed each time, police said.

Campos would not cooperate with officers, was acting in an aggressive manner and even pushed an officer before being brought to the ground and handcuffed, police said.

He was taken to Police Headquarters on Reef Road, where he continued to refuse to answer even basic questions, police said.

Fairfield police charged Campos with failure to grant insurance, failure to grant right of way, driving with a suspended license, driving under the influence, and interfering with an officer. He was issued a misdemeanor summons with a scheduled court date of Dec. 23. He was held on $500 bond.
