A witness reported that David Pressler, 42, of Green Knolls Lane, was spotted at about 5:39 p.m. Wednesday swerving on Judd Street before pulling onto Green Knolls and parking the car in his driveway, police said. The witness reported seeing Pressler and two children get out of the car and walk into the home, police said.

When officers responded to the Green Knolls home, they said Pressler, his 13-year-old son and and 6-year-old daughter were already inside the residence, police said. According to the police report, officers knocked on Pressler’s front door and could see him seated on the stairs.

Pressler, who answered the door, stumbled and fell to the ground, using the wall to regain his balance and answer the door, police said.

Upon investigation, officers determined that Pressler, who was being uncooperative, was intoxicated and had just brought his kids home from a day of sledding, police said.

A search of his vehicle turned up an empty 1.75-liter bottle of Smirnoff vodka as well as a 16.9-ounce alcoholic beverage in the driver seat cup holder, according to police.

Police said Pressler refused a field sobriety test and a breathalyzer, at which point he was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he also refused to be fingerprinted or have his photo taken.

Fairfield Police charged Pressler with driving under the influence, refusing to be fingerprinted and two counts of risk of injury.

Pressler was released on $100,000 bond and is due to appear in court on Feb. 11.
