According to the police report, 61-year-old Barry Hammons was arrested Friday afternoon after Fairfield detectives determined he had attempted to go to a doctor within a 2,500-foot radius around the victim's home, violating the protective order. The violation was verified by an electronic GPS anklet that he is ordered by the court to wear, police said.

The victim told police that he had called her and her sister several times, left threatening messages and sent anonymous letters in the mail.

During the police investigation, Hammons contacted the victim frequently, despite two no-contact orders given from the court, police said.

On June 20, he contacted her again and she sent police the message he had left, police said. While at a high school graduation in Fairfield, Hammons left her a note on her car with threats, police said.

Fairfield detectives took Hammons into custody at his home on Sunset Circle on Friday afternoon and charged him with intimidating a witness, two counts of violation of a protective order, threatening and second-degree harassment.

He was released after posting $200,000 bond and was due in court Monday June 23.
