FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Fairfield man was charged with threatening a lifeguard at Southport Beach on Tuesday afternoon, according to police reports.
The lifeguard told police that the suspect had been sitting in a car in the beach’s parking lot for a half-hour before suddenly getting out and charging the lifeguard station, police say. The man then began shouting obscenities at the lifeguard and making threats to kill him, according to police reports.
Joseph Gallace, 48, of Cross Highway had also been charged with breach of the peace in a similar incident in Westport earlier in the day, Fairfield Police say. He was warned not to return to Southport Beach after his arrest Tuesday, police say.
Gallace was charged with a breach of the peace and second-degree threatening Tuesday. He was released after posting $1,000 bond and is due in court July 18.
