Officers called to a Pequot Avenue residence on a report of “multiple stabbings” around 3:30 p.m. broke up a verbal argument turned physical between Alexius Charles Conroy, 30, who lives at the home, and his stepbrother, Daniel Williams, 40, of Old Mystic, police said.
The men, who had been drinking, said they were arguing over Williams’ wife and Thanksgiving, police said.
Williams punched Conroy in the face nine times before Conroy picked up a knife and began chasing Williams, police said.
“I wasn’t trying to kill him,” Conroy told officers.
Williams was issued a misdemeanor summons for third-degree assault and disorderly conduct, police said. He was released on a promise to appear in court on Nov. 24.
He was sent to St. Vincent’s Medical Center with a cut on the back of his hand.
Conroy was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct, police said. He was scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 24.
