Police: Fairfield Shooting Death Ruled A Suicide

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A 57-year-old Trumbull man whose body was found in a Fairfield parking lot Monday died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, police investigators say.

The body of Daniel Pirron was discovered by an employee of Universal Thread Grinding Co. in the business’s parking lot on Chambers Street Monday morning. A handgun was found near the body.

Evidence at the scene initially led police to believe the wound was not self-inflicted, according to police reports. But after the Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Unit processed the scene and an autopsy by the state Office of the Medical Examiner Tuesday morning, investigators have classified the death a suicide.

Fairfield Police are still investigating, however. Anyone with information should contact the Detective Bureau at 203-254-4840.
