FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Fairview Avenue woman was assaulted by an unknown male who approached her while she was putting out trash in her driveway Monday night, Fairfield police said.

The victim’s husband was helping their children get ready for bed at about 11:30 p.m., while the woman took a tray to her garbage can, police said.

She told police she saw a Hispanic male who appeared to be high school age in the area. The male came up behind her and reached across her chest leaving scratch marks on her shoulder, police said.

The victim screamed, and the male let go and ran off, police said. She was treated at the scene and the incident is under investigation, police said.
