FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Fairfield resident had a run-in with a hawk on the Merritt Parkway, according to police reports. The man told police the bird flew into his car on the highway, landed inside, and stayed there as the driver returned home.

The driver called to report the incident Sunday afternoon. He reported the hawk flew into his windshield while on the Merritt. The bird was injured in the collision and came in through an open window, landing in the driver’s lap, according to police reports.

The hawk stayed in the car until the man got to his home on Highlawn Road, more than 2 miles from the nearest Parkway exit. The man then called Fairfield Animal Control, which took the bird for treatment.
