Police Identify Man Who Drowned In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Police have released more details about the apparent drowning on Evergreen Hill Road Sunday night. The victim has been identified as Christopher Perez, 27, of Fairfield.

Perez was swimming in a pool while dogsitting at an Evergreen Hill Road home Sunday night with his stepsister, police say. Perez, who was described as a “strong swimmer,” felt a pain in his arm after finishing a lap. He went underwater for another swim and did not come back up, according to the police report.

The young girl went to get help at their home on the same street, and when her parents arrived they attempted CPR. However, Perez was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday morning to determine the cause of death.
