Five cars have been reported stolen from the Commerce Road dealership this month, police said. The thefts occurred between July 16 and July 21, police said.
The dealership didn’t notice the cars were missing until it received calls from police departments in New York inquiring about cars found in their jurisdictions, Fairfield police said.
Yonkers Police reported on July 22 that they had located two cars with Mercedes-Benz of Fairfield license plate frames. One of the cars appeared to have its VIN number removed, police said.
The two cars found by Yonkers Police were a 2015 ML 250 and a black 2015 GL 450, police said.
During their investigation, police determined that the person or persons responsible for the thefts may have accessed the dealership’s locked car lot by cutting through the fence, police said.
The New York Police Department also reported finding a white ML 350 in the Bronx on July 21. Although the vehicle was missing a license plate, police noticed that the car still had its Mercedes-Benz of Fairfield license plate frames, police said.
The Daily Voice previously reported that a lockbox containing the key to a car valued at $88,000 was damaged at the dealership earlier this month.
