Authorities said at around 8:30 p.m., Feb. 4, a white male entered the convenience store attached to the fueling station. Upon entrance, the suspect walked to the end of the counter and pulled out a hunting knife, held it to the clerks side and demanded he open the cash door, police said.

The male, believed to be in his 20s, grabbed an undetermined amount of cash from the register, before fleeing out the front door on foot towards Reef Road, police said.

According to the clerk's description, the male was about 6-feet tall, skinny, wearing a white hoodie with black pinstripes, a black fleece jacket, black ski mask and gloves and a pair of black jeans, police said.

After receiving report of the incident, Fairfield was assisted by Westport and Trumble Police departments who provided K-9 support and assisted in tracking the suspect, Fairfield Lt. James Perez said. According to Perez, the fact that K-9 units did not track the suspect "very far" suggests he may have entered a vehicle at some point during his get away.

"At that time of night there is a lot of high volume traffic [on Post Road]," Perez said. "I am a little surprised it happened then."

However, Perez said, while he is surprised the suspect wasn't stopped or seen by witnesses, it is possible that high traffic on Post Road could have helped the suspect "disappear in a crowd."

Police are asking anyone with information on the robbery or the suspect to call 203-254-4840.

"It's important that people call no matter how big or small the information," Perez said.
