Elizabeth Paliwoda, of 89 Canaan Court, was arrested at about 4 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, on charges of driving under the influence, evading responsibility and failure to drive right, Milford police said.

Officers responded to the scene of the accident at Seaside Avenue and Amber Lane where a fire hydrant had been hit by a car, which was no where to be found, Milford police said.

The car was located in a parking lot on Pearl Hill Street, with the driver still behind the wheel, police said.

An investigation led to the arrest of Paliwoda, who provided a breath sample that showed that she had an elevated blood alcohol content level, police said.

She was released on $500 bond for a court appearance on Nov. 16.
