Ross Kane, 34, was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny, second-degree breach of peace, possession of narcotics and possession of a facsimile firearm, police said.

He was held on $250,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning, police said.

Shelton officers were called to Buck Stop Gas Station on Wednesday about a robbery that happened about eight hours earlier at 6 a.m. It was not clear why the employee waited so long to report the holdup, but he was able to get the license plate of the suspect’s vehicle as it fled, police said.

Officers found the vehicle was stolen from a rental car agency in West Haven over the weekend.

Detectives canvassed hotels in the area and found the car at the Quality Suites on South Avenue in Stratford.

With assistance from Stratford police, officers set up surveillance and stopped Kane when he attempted to drive out of the parking lot.

Additional charges are expected in recent incidents over the holiday weekend, police said.
