Police: Trumbull Man Mugged By Group Of Young Males On Bikes

TRUMBULL, Conn. — A group of young males on bikes robbed and assaulted a man in the parking lot of a Trumbull apartment building Sunday night, police said.

The resident of the Royce of Trumbull Apartments on Old Town Road said he was robbed by six young black males while walking in the parking lot of the complex at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, police said. 

The 37-year-old man was surrounded by the group of young males, who were all riding bicycles, police said. He was then struck from behind and knocked to the ground, causing him minor injuries, police said.

At least one of the suspects went through the victim’s pockets and took the his iPhone, police said.

The victim described the suspects to police as six black male teens wearing hooded sweatshirts. Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspects, police said. 

Officer are investigating whether this incident is related to other recent incidents in the complex.

At 1:30 p.m. April 10, two 12-year-old boys were attacked and robbed by two other juveniles while out riding bikes at the Royce Apartments, police said. Both boys suffered minor injuries, police said.

Two juvenile males had approached the two and said they wanted to ride their bikes, police said. After the boys said “no,” the suspects punched the two boys and shoved them off their bikes, police said.

An iPhone belonging to one of the victims fell, and one suspect took it, police said. The suspects discarded the bicycles nearby, police said.
