Police: Two Fairfield DUI Suspects Drove Wrong Way

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Two people were charged with driving under the influence after they were seen on the wrong side of the road in separate Fairfield incidents over the weekend, police said.

Officers on patrol Friday night saw a car stopped at a red light on the Post Road, facing east in the westbound lane, police say. The car also did not have headlights on, according to police reports.

Police stopped Kristi Marshall, 48, of Hillbrook Lane after she turned onto Unquowa Road. During the stop, officers smelled alcohol, and Marshall failed field sobriety tests at the scene, police said. She declined to take a breath test at police headquarters. Marshall was charged with driving under the influence, and released after posting a $100 bond. She is due in court Oct. 23.

The next night, officers were on Kings Highway when a passing driver pointed to a nearby car and told police its driver was drunk, according to police reports. The officers saw a man turn his vehicle onto Longfellow Avenue and drive on the wrong side of the yellow line, then do the same after turning onto Castle Avenue, police said.

James Colbert, 51, of Trumbull, failed field sobriety tests at the scene, then failed a breathalyzer test at police headquarters, according to police reports. He was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive on the right. He was released after posting a $100 bond, and is due in court Oct. 23.
