Scott Matthews, 44, called police to report that Todd Roberts, 48, had assaulted him, injuring his face, hands, legs and neck, police said. Officers responded and arranged for Matthews to be transported to St. Vincent's Hospital for an evaluation, police said.
According to the police report, the fight began over paying bond for the release of Jamie Roberts, 19, of Fairfield, was charged with first-degree larceny and first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny involving the attempted sale of a stolen tractor. (Read about her arrest here in the Daily Voice.)
The argument turned physical after Roberts yelled at his mother, police said. The teen's mother posted the bond. The mother is Todd Roberts' ex-wife and Mattews' sister.
The woman confirmed that Roberts grabbed Matthews, who both live with her in Fairfield, and threw him to the ground and began to punch him, police said.
Roberts and Matthews were each charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Roberts posted $5,000 bond and was given a court date of March 11. No information about his appearance was available.
