Police said they were contacted just before 3:30 p.m. Friday by an employee at the Verizon Wireless Zone store at 385 Post Road E. about a suspected fraud.

The employee told officers that a female customer had attempted to purchase a cellphone upgrade with what appeared to be a fraudulent New Jersey driver's license and a fraudulent credit card, police said. The employee became suspicious and attempted to take steps to verify the account holder’s identity, police said.

The store had been notified by a Norwalk Verizon branch that the same woman had attempted an apparently fraudulent transaction at that store within the hour, police said.

After the employee questioned the deal, the customer canceled the transaction and left the store, police said.

The employee provided a description of the customer and the customer’s vehicle to police.

Westport Detective Marc Heinmiller located the vehicle leaving a Verizon store in Southport, where another attempted transaction was reported, police said. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and the occupants were detained.

Officers discovered five forged identifications and five forged credit cards hidden within the vehicle, police said. An eyewitness was able to positively identify the suspect who had attempted the transaction in Westport, police said.

During the investigation, it became apparent that the suspect and driver were working together, police said.

The following two individuals were arrested:

Glory Ann Torres, 32, of New York, New York and Stephanie Bundrick-Dume, 25, of the Bronx, N.Y., were each arrested.

Both were charged with five counts of forgery, five counts of unlawful completion of a reproduction credit card, five counts of identity theft and one count each of criminal attempt at fifth-degree larceny and illegal use of a credit card. Police also charged them with equal counts of conspiracy for the charges.

Each was each held on $25,000 bond. Court appearances were scheduled for Dec. 19.
