Pregnant Woman Charged With Shoplifting Fairfield Kohl's

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - A Bridgeport woman was stopped outside the Kohl's by loss prevention workers as she attempted to take more than $100 in jewelry from the store, Fairfield police said.

According to the police report, Rosemary Garcia, 22, had placed $139 worth of jewelry into her purse and then walked out of the store without paying. When loss prevention agents stopped her outside the store, jewelry fell out of her purse, police said. 

Garcia is reportedly 9 months pregnant and was with her 1-year-old daughter when charged, police said. 

She was released at the scene with a written promise to appear and given a court date of Oct. 23.
